The Welcome Reception of the AVA Autumn Meeting 2022 will take place at the Berne Animal Park along the beautiful River Aare. The Zoo has adopted the logo “More space for less animals” and has embedded spacious animal enclosures in the lovely mixed beech forest that is native to the area. During the reception you will have the opportunity to stroll along the river and observe some of the animal enclosures.
Approximately half of Dählhölzli is freely accessible or visible including the enclosures along the Aare river, the childrens’ zoo, the lynx park, the wisent forest, and the grouse and flamingo enclosures.
During your visit to Berne we also suggest that you pay a visit to the ‘Bear Park’ located at the tip of the city approximately 2 km downstream from Dählhölzli. The BärenPark Berne opened its “gates” on October 22, 2009 and is the number one tourist attraction in the city of Bern with 1.8 million visits each year. Since 1513 bears have been kept in trenches at various locations in the city of Berne and the bears have lived in the same location on Nydeggstalden since 1857. They now live in a beautiful natural enviounment with access to the River Aare.
